Corporate Overview
The Company has formally changed the name of its two oncology clinical programs, both of which had references to Ecopia and Caprion prior to the amalgamation completed on March 14, 2007.
Thallion Pharmaceuticals Inc. is a biotechnology company focussed on developing new treatments for under-served markets in oncology and infectious diseases.
The Company’s first product candidate is Shigamabs®, a dual antibody product for the treatment of Shigatoxin-producing E. coli bacterial infections. It is also developing two oncology products based on targeted therapy; TLN-232, a novel peptide with potential efficacy in multiple oncology indications and TLN-4601, a novel small molecule derived from a nonpathogenic microorganism.
The Company was founded upon two proprietary technology platforms; CellCarta®, a proteomics discovery platform; and DECIPHER®, a genomics-based discovery platform. In 2007, CellCarta®, was established as wholly owned LLP operating as Caprion Proteomics GP, whereas Thallion will seek strategic alliances for DECIPHER® and the discovery and development of natural product small molecule drugs. On July 11, 2007, Thallion announced the sale of an 80 percent stake in Caprion Proteomics GP, to a company formed by Great Point Partners, LLC of Greenwich, Connecticut. The new company, Caprion Proteomics Inc., acquired substantially all of Thallion's proteomics assets including the CellCarta®, discovery platform, while Thallion retained a 20 percent equity position in the company.
Thallion was formed in March 2007 from the amalgamation of Ecopia BioSciences Inc. and Caprion Pharmaceuticals Inc. The Company’s shares are listed and traded on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) under the symbol TLN.
